Patch 3.2 Follow-up

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 10:48 AM PDT

We promised to provide a follow up revolving around the changes we made with update 3.2. Let's talk about how we are going to make this right.

Dragon Weapons

The change we made to dragon weapons led to a lot of cases where weapons received a sub-optimal combination of perks. While these perks may have had higher rarity, they performed worse in practice. To make this right we'll be granting a new schematic of any changed dragon weapon so that they match their original state, with their original perks, at the level they were at prior to the 3.2 update. You should get the new copy even if you've already recycled or otherwise disposed of your schematic after update 3.2. Additionally, we'll be leaving the current version of the schematic in your Armory too, in case you prefer the new version.

We'll update with a precise timeline on the restoration soon, but it should be this week. We're currently in the process of determining all of the affected schematics and their perks and we'll be moving to test the restoration process on an internal server very soon. After that, we'll start rolling the restoration out to everyone who was affected.

EDIT: We do NOT recommend recycling or collecting Dragon weapons until after this restoration occurs. You are only receiving extra copies of Dragon weapons that were affected by the re-roll. Weapons that already obeyed the perk rules (including all weapons earned after update 3.0) are being left alone.

Stat Caps

You're telling us the stat caps don't feel good in their current state and we agree. While stat caps have always been a part of Fortnite, we messed up their balance in the 3.2 update. When you play down level with your friends it should be fun, rewarding, and worth your time. We're not meeting those goals yet.

We have adjustments for stat caps in place for update 3.3. These are the changes that we can quickly make to heavily loosen the caps, without negatively impacting the new player experience. We'll continue to adjust stat caps, but wanted to make sure we got a change out immediately. Here's the list of changes that we're making to stat caps for 3.3:

  • Fixing the Storm Shield defense bug by raising caps to their end-of-zone level. The stats were improperly capped at the start-of-zone level in all Storm Shields.
  • We're returning shared F.O.R.T stats to the way it used to work before the last update. One high-level player can give your duo enough F.O.R.T stats to feel like a 4-player group, if that player is far enough above the content you're playing.
  • We're returning the Stonewood F.O.R.T caps to their end-of-zone level.
  • Accelerating the growth of personal F.O.R.T Caps so they outpace the growth of the enemies. In many cases these will be higher than they've ever been before, and the top of Twine will be effectively uncapped.

Additionally, we also feel like you aren't currently rewarded appropriately for playing harder content. Here are some of the things coming up in update 3.4 for late-game rewards that we want to tell you about ahead of time:

  • Improved schematic, hero, and survivor XP rewards. These will gradually start increasing in Plankerton and continue growing with each difficulty afterwards.
  • Updated the Miniboss Mission Alerts to focus more on offering schematics, Survivors, and transform keys, while greatly increasing the rarity of these items.
  • Increased quantity of Storm materials earned while progressing through each zone, starting in Plankerton. Example: Drops of Rain will have twice the quantity in Twine Peaks than they do currently.

Critical Chance Perks

We said it in our earlier post and it bears repeating here: we shouldn't have made this change before introducing the perk reroll system that is actively being developed. Sometimes balance changes might be necessary, but this wasn't the right way to do it. We're going to revert the Critical Chance perk back to where it was before the 3.2 update. We don't want to further adjust any stats so we'll be keeping the increases to Critical Damage in place. We can't hotfix this particular change, but we've already made the changes so that they're ready to go in the next update.

Pretty much sums up my experience with this game lately

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 05:22 AM PDT

Why do we still have 4 loading screens?

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 01:37 AM PDT

Loading Screen > Log in Screen > Loading Screen > MOTD (Message of the day) > Loading Screen > Pick Game Mode > Loading Screen > In-game

Why does the MOTD need it's own screen and why does there need to be a loading screen after login screen?

We should only have 2 loading screens.

Loading Screen + Logging In > Pick Game Mode > Loading Screen > In-game

Remove the MOTD and add it to the Epic Launcher instead, Fortnite's TAB.

State of my Fortnite Loadout

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 07:03 AM PDT

Hey guys, Whitesushi here. It's the month of March and a lot of updates have been made to my spreadsheet especially these few weeks so I thought I might make a thread to keep you guys posted on the latest updates. If you aren't already aware, below is the link to the spreadsheet

Fortnite Loadout

It includes a wide collection of information on the game, many of which I will cover in the subsequent sections so I definitely recommend taking a look if you are a new player or just someone who enjoys understanding how things work

TDPS Calculations

This has been one of the key features of my spreadsheet and also a pain in the ass to keep track of due to my poor handling of the formula initially. There were a lot of inconsistencies between the TDPS as well as Damage/Shot due to myself running independently formulas for both which led to minor inaccuracies in the results. I have since cleaned it up and have it such that TDPS is based off Damage/Shot when calculated. Of course, it still takes into account all our

  • Weapon Stats
  • Weapon Perks
  • Offense
  • Hero Perks (Fairly new feature)
  • Elemental Damage (Fairly new feature)

I also scrapped the psuedo "60s assumption" which many of you more spreadsheet savvy users would come to realize upon inspecting my formula. I believe the current (updated) method of calculating TDPS should be more accurate and less bias towards weapons which get capped out "earlier" within the 60s assumed time-frame.

I have also updated the "Weapon LVL" calculations to now include damage received from the evolutions itself. The formula isn't precise but it is generally 90% accurate. This is due to the fact that many of the damage values are hard-coded at each point in evolution and it's hard to derive a "one size fits all" formula. Nevertheless, it is definitely a lot more accurate than before and remains a feature for the people who understands what they are doing.

Lastly, the TDPS and Damage/Shot columns under "Ranged" have also been updated with the new formulas for consistency.

New Editor

So this is definitely huge news because the spreadsheet has been around for almost 7 months already and this is the first time I'm bringing an editor aboard. Anyway, meet u/mbit90 who initially contributed towards the evolution materials table, making it a lot cleaner and user-friendly to use. However, what really impressed me was the amount of work he put in sorting out expeditions which has since been incorporated onto my spreadsheet

Yep guys, I know many of you have been requesting it and we finally have something related to expeditions thanks to mbit90.

Anyway, if you guys haven't seen it yet, here's a sneak peak of some sort. It is really detailed and has information on over 150 expeditions all presented in a really catchy format so definitely take a look if it interests you. Also while we're at it, he also did a nice tab on storm shield defense rewards which is also immensely helpful.

Spreadsheet Translations

I have had several individuals approaching me asking if they could translate my spreadsheet or even if I could translate my spreadsheet for them. My take on this is

  1. I will not translate my own spreadsheet to any other languages. It takes way too much effort and I don't play the game on another language so naming conventions will be complicated

  2. That said, feel free to translate my spreadsheet to any language you want. You don't have to keep my cover page but definitely keep all the credits for where appropriate such as all the "Credits u/xxx" mentions for the respective tables

So far, I have only had one person who got back to me with the finished translations (it is a lot of work translating something this text heavy). Apparently Fortnite was only released in the Korean language a month ago and this guy already translated my spreadsheet into Korean which you can check out here. I have also linked it on the cover page of my spreadsheet and if there are any other complete translations out there, feel free to let me know and I will link it as well.

I also updated the hero portraits in the respective class pages using images used by the Korean translated spreadsheet :D

Other Features

Collections Book & Daily Rewards

Creator of Stormshield. One u/nordrasir has been especially helpful in providing complete lists of collection book and daily rewards which would otherwise be close to unobtainable. While it does spoil the fun of discovering these goodies yourself, it definitely proves useful for those striving to obtain something and help better plan their route getting there. Again, here's a sneak peak of the tables. I will work on improving their formats in the near future to ease the eye cancer.

Planned Features

Updated Tier List

Tier lists has been on a standstill for quite a while because none of the new heroes have been exceptionally powerful and merely sit somewhere in the middle of the lists which can be hard to qualify. Furthermore, many of the end-game players who used to evaluate these options for me have stopped playing the game so it has proven difficult to gather such information. Despite this, I will definitely try and update these as soon as possible along with the popular loadouts

Loadout Planner

I have been trying to come up with a way to setup a loadout system where the user selects the hero they want to use and the spreadsheet will come up with weapon and perk recommendations. This has proven fairly challenging to accomplish in the spreadsheet format and I might potentially look into other means of achieving this (Maybe something similar to Path of Building?)

More Advanced Calculator

If you look at Stormshield. One, they now have a complete list of schematics along with some hidden stats previously unknown to us such as the range modifiers, weapon spread amongst many others. I have been looking into ways of incorporating these but there isn't a concrete plan for it at the moment

Husks Scaling

We have some rough ideas of how the scaling work after Twine Peaks but a concrete formula hasn't been derived so far. However, I do have the base HP values for each of the husk and exploring this further would potentially lead to more accurate DPS calculations taking into account time-to-kill

More Images.. Maybe?

Lastly, I feel that the spreadsheet is a little too text heavy at times and images would drastically improve the effectiveness of a lot of the content such as the loot tables and possibly the llama page. That said, this is fairly low priority but a consideration nonetheless

Closure

The spreadsheet has definitely came a long way from its earlier iterations and there are so many people to thank for that

  • Epic Games for spreading the word through their Twitter tweet and also helping to shorten the URL to http://epic.gm/yx

  • Individuals who approached me volunteering data they have gathered and even entire tables filled with useful information

  • The community as a whole who corrected my mistakes through all the Reddit posts I have made as well as the "Feedbacks" tab in the spreadsheet itself

In the meantime, I will continue to make updates while keeping up with the patch releases. If you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to let me know either in this thread, through messaging me on Reddit or a discord message @Whitesushi#4071

Epic I hope you realize that your player base does not like the current event or the new structure. We need something else

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 11:38 PM PDT

Horde Bash - great concept. Poorly executed but it was still fun

Hexsylvania - 10s across the board. Fun, engaging, good storyline. Awesome rewards.

Winter STS - Nice deviation from normal gameplay loop. Good atmosphere, good rewards. Mostly fun.

Mutant Storm events - Nothing special, but tickets tied to storms is nice because it gives players options and keeps higher level missions populated. Usually decent rewards.

Spring It On! - Fetch quests into the normal game play loop with nothing new. Poor storyline, poor rewards, punishing, unfun, frustrating.

I'm sure there will be people who disagree, but myself and everyone I've talked to about this hate this event.

Obtaining tickets is slow and frustrating. Feels like a chore. Event store rewards are mostly garbage. Spring Llamas are overstuffed with lackluster rewards and reskins.

Here's the thing.

In a game that sustains itself by keeping players on the same grind loop, events should do one of two things - make that grind rewarding, or give us something to deviate from the grind. Spring It On! does neither of those things. And to top it off, there is no incentive for an established player to engage in any of it. I could forgive the event design if the rewards were worth the work, but they aren't. All four of the new heroes are gimmicky and look interesting on paper, but aren't practical to use. The Constructor is only marginally better than the other three, but even then he's an ability damage hero with a BASE that's so inefficient to use that you might as well play a Ninja instead.

People who's been playing the game long enough are not going to be motivated enough by a mislabeled (mythic) soldier to grind for it just because its Wukong.

Something I think that is important to consider is that while we do want cosmetics, we want content. We want things that are either fun or useful. Reskinning mediocre heroes with Battle Royale skins makes me feel like you don't understand your StW player base, and layering the same old grind with empty fetch quests makes me feel like you don't understand why we play this game.

This has gotten a bit long, but I really hope someone reads this and takes it to heart. We need new content, or we need a reason to grind for the rewards. Currently we have neither and its half of the reason the game is dead right now.

Sorry to be cynical, but Spring It On! is the worst event this game has had by far. We need something fresh, rewarding, or fun in the future. Preferably all three.

Someone Please Explain Trading To Me

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 12:39 AM PDT

So here I am, been playing the PVE on and off since September and I have to do SSD4 in Canny Valley. In an attempt to recruit a squad, I post in the Global Chat "Need help with Canny Valley Storm Shield 4."

It's 2 in the morning here, not expecting a lot, but someone responds with, "Only if you trade." I'm thinking sure why the hell not, I don't even get why people trade guns but I'll give the guy a Grave Digger for helping me out. The guy joins my game and party and turns out to be some 12 year old with a Power level of 5.

Here I am prepped to mow down hordes of level 58 zombies and this twerp trots on in like a Yorkshire terrier in the middle of The Battle of the Bulge. The kid is going off, asking me if I have these specific guns, he knows the names of all these guns like he knows the alphabet... half of them I've never even heard of. I don't have the heart to tell this kid he's literally useless here, so I take him on as my Charity Case Lennie and have him hide in a corner while my defenders and I do the waves. He's in awe over a power level 82 grave digger so I just make him all my level 1 legendary schematics. Let them eat cake, right?

Luckily, my Canny Valley base is so decked out it belongs on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel so my sniper defender and I take care of the waves while the kid is off playing in the God damn twister on the other side of the map. I am here solo-ing the Storm Shield Defense, meanwhile this kid is telling me how his friend Rob just got a 3-star Nocturna or something. This kid probably hasn't played Save the World for more than 8 hours but collecting rare guns in this game was his life; the entire premise of this game to him was to trade and acquire guns.

I beat the defense and send the kid off with his brand new power level 20 grenade launchers and snipers that will destroy in 1 game. Now on some charity high, I post in the global chat again, "Does anyone need Storm Shield help?"

Right away, I get invited into a party. I'm still trying to complete Hold the Door 9, so I'm all game for another one. I say my greetings and ask what SSD number they need help with and in which zone. Out of the two others in the party, one 12 year old speaks up and says, "Oh, we're actually noobs. We were wondering if you wanted to trade."

BOONDOGGLED AGAIN, I AM!

First of all, I have my armada of power level 82 weapons and traps so their guns are absolutely useless to me. Second, I've come to notice a pattern that all people who are hyping up trade are just little kids still in Stonewood who are trying to collect guns like Pokemon cards. Third, why even bother trading for some random gun if it will be destroyed after 2-3 missions? It is pretty easy to upgrade schematics so why rely on someone else's schematics? Ayn Rand is off rolling in her grave, the world makes no sense anymore, life is a perception of your own reality.

TL;DR : Can someone please explain to me the benefits of trading and why the global chat is so enticed with it?

"My account got hacked!!", a small guide to making sure your accounts are secure. Make sure you read this if you value your CC information or your account.

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 04:49 AM PDT

Hacking is usually not what people think. When an account gets hacked, it isn't like there is someone who has written a complicated piece of software that attacks the Fortnite server to extract your login information. Hackers target the weakest link. Usually that weakest link is your password.

Let's start with the basics:

  • Go to this website and enter your email address. Chances are quite big that you have an account on a website that has been breached in the past. If this gives any hits, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. You are at risk of getting everything stolen from you if you don't.

  • Enable two-factor log-in for your Epic Games account

We're adding Two-Factor Sign In to provide an additional security measure for your account. If you opt into Two-Factor Sign In, we will send you an email with a code after you enter your password. Enter the code from the Epic email sent to you, and then you will be logged into your account. You will be prompted for the two-factor sign in code the first time you login after enabling the feature if you use a new device, clear browser cookies, or it's been over 30 days since you last signed in.

  • Make sure you have anti-virus software installed. If you don't, you might be at risk of having all your keystrokes sent to a server somewhere through malicious software. This will include access to your financial assets, social media, potentially work accounts, e-mail.. Basically your whole online identity.

  • Keep your software up-to-date. Don't be stupid, don't lose your money because of an exploit that got fixed ages ago, just because you keep pressing "install later".

  • Nothing is free. You account is yours and yours only. Don't share your account, your friend might be a good friend, but he/she might also be a dumb with security. See something about free v-bucks? You are being scammed. Just don't enter your information anywhere that's not an official page by the service you are using.

Now onto advice for making your online security water-tight:

  • Use unique passwords. "But I've got this really good password that I can remember and it's incredibly secure!" No, it doesn't work like that. You can have "IUHIOU@((HKJHGFS!5877ADWEYRY@@UD734bhgdfag" as a password, but if you use it for everything it will barely be more secure than the password "password". Why? Check back at the first link in this post. Some smaller website (or even the large ones, think Equifax) have shit security. You won't be able to tell that their security is bad, but they might store your password as plain text (without any encryption) in a huge database of accounts. Their database gets hacked: ALL your accounts everywhere are in danger. They've got your e-mail and password, they can login to your e-mail, they can reset everything you have registered to that e-mail.

Even better, get a password manager.

  • A password manager works with a main password, the key to all your other passwords. You don't use your key for anything other than your manager. You write it down (or remember it if you are absolutely certain you can. If you lose your main password you are screwed, but that's also what makes it so secure), store it somewhere safe. Make sure you Master password is not easy to guess, you will only need to remember that one so make something good out of it.

  • A good manager usually has plugins for your browser. It is able to generate and store passwords for whatever site you want to register. The most popular managers are (as far as I know) LastPass and KeePass. These sort of manager are extensively used by people who work in security. Encryption of the passwords happens on your PC, it get's encrypted locally using your master password before anything get stored/sent to a server. That means that even if LastPass got hacked, the hackers will have a bunch of useless information about you that is worthless without your personal key/password. LastPass is what I use, the free version does everything you need. It notifies me if I have a duplicate password for a service, it auto-fills for me if I want to, it gives me a heads up after a while to re-generate passwords if I used the same for a long time.

If you follow these steps, you can be sure that your accounts are safe. One of the sites that you use got hacked? No biggy, they still don't have access to your other stuff. You don't have to worry about your accounts as much anymore.

This might not be a perfect guide, but I figured it is needed. Most people who lost money in the last few weeks could've prevented it. It royally sucks when it happens (it did happen to me, that's why I secure my shit now. Don't want that ever happening again), so make sure it can't happen to you. It'll be a bit of work to set up, but it feels really good to know that they probably won't be able to get you.

Epic switch your priorities.

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 05:07 AM PDT

Your goal should be making the base game as good as you possibly can. Finish the story and create new textures per area. Events are so unimportant right now. Finish the base game worry about events when the game is F2P.

The much needed Copy/Paste you didn't know has been there the whole time

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 12:42 PM PDT

Earlier I asked a question that turned into an all out war and after I figured out I was incorrect I rescinded my side and apologized. Some still feel the need to be "more" right however this post is to add a little hint to your fortnite experience and make up for my earlier misconception.

Did you know you can copy any already built player surfaces? Try it. Aim at any playerbuilt surface while already in build mode and press L2. It is that simple.

I am a PlayStation user so on PS4 you enter build mode using O (Circle) then aim at any player built surface to ready your character to copy. While a blueprint is up ready to be built and already aimed at the structure you want to copy simply press L2. That's it. You have copied the blueprint and can now lay that structure down. To copy the structure and material double tap L2.

I have taught this trick to every single person in my fortnite friends list, so around 175, and not a single person actually new this trick. I have taught new players and at least 15 above level 100 going as high 124 and all have found immense value. Please upvote to spread the word and if you need assistance friend request me on PSN @ bshoptau and on PC @ MassaChief

I can't help but laugh at the 3.2 post mortem PR spin by Epic.

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 03:58 AM PDT

https://www.reddit.com/r/FORTnITE/comments/6zgap8/things_that_should_not_be_in_fortnite/

And I still played 4 months more after making that post. The events were fun, especially the Halloween one. But this post mortem PR is putting lipstick on a pig.

If epic cared, they would have listened a long time ago. Many people before me spoke up about a great many issues with the game and tried to be constructive, but nothing ever really came of it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FORTnITE/comments/739fkk/dev_update_7_class_balance_rare_materials/dnox757/?context=3

So they don't really have any excuse for this. It's bad management from top to bottom for Fortnite PvE and I doubt that is going to change. Glad I haven't been around to suffer, popped in to see if anything was different.

I guess account hacking is new and rampant, I should probably go lock my account down just to be safe.

Epic please fix the sound in this game

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 04:01 AM PDT

Due to the spring event I have spent an extended amount of time in game this weekend and I've found that the sound is just set up awfully in Save the World mode. Where as in Battle Royal the distant gun shots and nearby footsteps are perfect STW mode sounds are just all over the place.

The quest notifications are way too high. The Husk Deaths for fatties seem to be heard from miles away. Battle music, especially for Takers, seem to last for long after you run away from them (via hoverboard). Music transition is too harsh in general.

There's a lot of good stuff going on in Save the World mode that immerses me in the game, tree rustling in the forest, the eerie sound of the girl singing every now and then when close to a rift, the echoing sound when in a cave. But its all ruined by interruptions from other unnecessary sound.

For some reason I also, occasionally, hear the halloween scary laugh near the corners of some forest maps. What the hell is going on with the coding in this game?

I can't be the only one noticing this stuff right?

Founder Asking Epic Devs - Canny Valley

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 08:56 PM PDT

Hey there, just wondering so when Canny Valley is fleshed out, is it going to look like the Storm Shield area(western aesthetic) all around?

Are the quests for this region going to reset for those of us who played the missions without the story content?

Is there a timeline at Epic that includes Save the World story development(not just extra seasonal events)?

EPIC's lack of account security and you, how to protect yourself.

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 11:38 PM PDT

With the rising issue of account thefts and V-Buck Giveaway phishing, I have gone and done a very crude but very important security audit of EPIC and how they protect your account.

EPIC has put a thread about this kind of thing already, but Im not here to make EPIC look good nor be their friend. Im their customer and Im not happy with how they protect me and my personal information.

First things first, what protections does EPIC give my account? Well little to none really. EPIC does use HTTPS to protect the data transfer from your computer to their website, which is fairly standard these days.

They also offer you 2 Factor Authentication.....which is something I will cover and tell you the very ugly truth about.

While I can not prove anything, EPIC should have their database with everyone's account info (logins, personal details, payments) encrypted.

You can not change the email address without contacting support (I guess a 2+ week wait to change an email is a strong security point).

And Finally EPIC will alert you if your password has been changed.

BUT THAT IS WHERE IT STOPS.

EPIC does not provide you any more security after that. And they need to.

Let's start off with login protection. (2FA will be next) My account was created via a USA IP Address, the game was downloaded via the same IP, and I had played the game on the same IP. But I can change my IP to anywhere in the world and EPIC will let me log into my account without raising a red flag. I will not get an email asking me if I logged in from Russia. My account will not be locked for logging in from known high theft locations. And there is no way for me as the owner and user of the account to see what IPs have accessed my account.

EPIC recently added 2 Factor Authentication as an account option. They did not tell players it is up and running so many people do not know it is up and running. That being said, I went ahead and tested how well the 2FA works....ITS ALMOST USELESS. 5 points to gryffindor EPIC for telling players they are working on 2FA and then quickly giving players the choice to enroll in 2FA. But -100 points for how it works.

EPIC chose to do the weakest method of 2FA out there, EMAIL BASED. That's right, every time a non saved IP logs into your account they are halted by the request for a code from your email. Granted this will stop some people right away, but let us not forget that the person attempting to get into your account currently has your email address already. And a lot of people use the same password for many accounts and its very likely that your email account has shared a password that has been breached somewhere.

EPIC does not give you the option to use something like your cell phone for your 2FA, nor an app such as Google Authenticator.

Lets move on from this, say the person has gained access to your account. They will be greeted with almost the best outcome possible, no security checkpoints. When someone gets into your account they will allowed to see your First Last Name, your Mobile Phone Number, and YOUR FULL PHYSICAL MAILING ADDRESS. None of these are censored, not at all. Your payment details are censored to a degree that makes it impossible for the person to just strip your payment info and run off, but they already have plenty of personal info from you that they could use against you fairly easy.

What about payments? Well you wonder why people have had their account stolen and had $1664 USD worth of purchases done? That is because EPIC does not require any proof of ownership once payment details are used ONCE. EPIC will AUTO SAVE YOUR PAYMENT DETAILS. And once these details are saved to your account, EPIC ALWAYS ASSUMES YOU ARE THE CARD HOLDER.

Let me clear this up a little, EPIC ALWAYS ASSUMES YOU ARE THE CARD HOLDER. There, didn't that make it more clear?

Ok, what this means is that when you go to buy those V-Bucks, EPIC will not ask you to re-enter any payment details to check if you are the owner of the payment being used. They do not ask you for the 3 (or 4) digit code, they do not ask you to enter the expiration date of the card, they do not ask you for your paypal password. They assume that the request to use the payment method is being made by the account owner and that every amount acceptable.

This means that poor Jimmy over there, who fell victim to V-Buck Giveaway scam, had his login details stolen. The scammers now are able to see Jimmy's cell phone number, mailing address, and are able to charge 1000s of dollars worth of good to the payments attached to the account, ALL WITHOUT JIMMY KNOWING.....at least until he opens his email from EPIC thanking him for his $20,000 purchase of game copies and V-Bucks.

So now that you know the rather big issues that EPIC does not protect against, what can you do to protect yourself?

First off, REMOVE YOUR PAYMENT AND PERSONAL INFO
With no protection of this info, you should be very wary about wanting to give this info for EPIC to protect.

Get a password manager and change your bloody passwords. I am willing to bet that most of you do not use a password manager and reuse your passwords. It's ok, most people don't know that you should because most people don't know how often websites they use or used in the past are breached and are not aware their login info was stolen. I personally use Dashlane, it keeps all my passwords on my phone and on my computer. I can make passwords containing letters numbers and symbols up to 28 characters long that I do not have to remember, because it does it for me.

Do not use social media links to sign in. I know EPIC says that it provides extra security....but how? How does giving your facebook the power to log you into your EPIC account add security? To me that sounds as if it is giving even more weaknesses. Sure is convenient to click one button to log in, but how many people are using a very secure facebook password? Social Media is a bigger target of account hacking in general and provides no protection for your login. I steal your facebook and I can then log into your EPIC account without knowing the login details of your EPIC account.

As a matter of fact EPIC is fully relying on you to link your account to Facebook or Google, their stance is and I quote EPIC directly "Due to the additional security measures provided through Google and Facebook login, you can set correspondingly more secure passwords for your Epic account and then not worry about using them due to the pass-through authentication with Google and Facebook."

To put that in simple very easy to understand words, they want you to link to Facebook and Google so that you can then set a very complex password for your EPIC account and then never use nor have to remember that password because you are using your social media accounts to sign in.....THEY WANT YOU TO FORGET YOUR PASSWORD......WHY??

And lastly DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR ACCOUNT INFO, honestly just stop it.

Zero incentive to play.

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 09:06 AM PDT

I'm mid-twine (85) and I no longer feel there is any incentive to play. Nothing I do will strengthen my character, or give me any sense of progression.

You don't get anything useful from missions. All weapons and traps come from llama - or you wait for the weekly reset to buy stuff for gold. Why would I spend 30+ minutes in a game to come out with less than I went in with?

You need to fix the feeling of progression in the game badly, at this point I can't even bring myself to log in to do more than the daily - and even that feels like a slog.

No sound during fanfares

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 03:12 AM PDT

I have an issue, whenever someone completes an objective, the little fanfare plays. But to me all other sounds get turned off during the fanfare.

I play on PS4 in Canny

Hoping anyone else has had the same problem and found a solution for it?

Please add a TRADE chat channel to curb SPAM

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 05:31 PM PDT

I don't even know why this is a thing... but people are always spamming global with trade requests.

And the of course a pageant that has played out at least 100 times... complaints that x player "scammed" y player and player y's defense and inevitable counteraccusation that player x scammed player y.

Maybe if there was a trade channel they would stop spamming global chat. Just a thought

Quick question about possible loot when searching.

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 06:32 AM PDT

I'm calling all my fellow Outlanders and farmers alike;

When searching random things like boxes, trash bags, suitcases, those kinds of things, has anyone actually found any Quartz, Shadow Shard or Sunbeam Crystal?

I was searching in a private game earlier to day in the 100s, and I found plenty of Brightcore and Obsidian, but I found literally no crystals of any kind. Has anyone found any or am I just really unlucky?

For those who got their money back - is this normal?

Posted: 13 Mar 2018 06:08 AM PDT

Submitted my refund request several days ago and got no email confirmation when I submitted the request and have heard nothing back so far.

Is this normal? I filled out every field and got the correct transaction IDs and dates but I never got an email confirming that the request went through and I so far have not been refunded.
