Are mission chest rewards bugged again?

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 12:02 AM PST

I did the same radar mission twice in a row.

1st run: level 4 chest - 6600 schematic XP

2nd run: level 5 chest - 6600 schematic XP

Shouldn't the higher level chest give you more XP?

EDIT: Another test done by someone else on a bomb mission:

Level 6 Chest: 7500 Schematic XP + 18 rain

Level 5 Chest: 7500 Schematic XP + 18 rain

Also, I don't understand the reason behind downvoting an objective post which exposes real data. There's nothing subjective about this.

Rescue the survivors is a horribly broken mess that needs urgent attention.

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:55 PM PST

Right now there are more bugged interactions in the map than working ones.

Working properly:

Find the medkit.

Tents.

Broken:

Cars - Survivors are vulnerable on their cars meaning Gas lobbers, lazers, propane, bees will kill them in seconds they can spawn from from sleeping husks/patrols/camps...

RVs - same issue as cars

Antennas - it's a coin flip as to whether the survivor spawns or not (still)

Medbots - downed medbot survivors can be pushed around before you find them, which means you'll need to hunt around nearby for an invisible trigger to find the medbot.

So uhh... 2 working properly 4 broken in some way, can we get some of those fixed please?

Goddamn it Epic! Pay attention to me!!

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 04:58 AM PST

So I have now been waiting for a response (beyond the auto-generated confirmation email) for my support ticket logged on the 3rd of February. 1 month, 1 day.

I waited 2 weeks (as similar posts at the time stated this as the time to get a response). Nothing.

I waited another 2 weeks (as more recent posts on customer support stated a months wait to get a response). Nothing.

I didn't send multiple tickets (as apparently this impacts your response time further). No effect.

I have been patient, followed the advice of others on this Reddit , not badgered your customer service team in any way and what do I have to show for it? BIG FAT FUCK ALL.

I don't want V-Bucks as an apology, at this point I'm barely fussed whether you address the issue raised in my ticket but I want my response! With the time and money I have put into your game I think I deserve a response! Not to have you silently wave your middle finger at me.

Case number: 1865724

I'll be waiting...

UPDATE: Just received an email from Epic stating that my problem has been addressed (it has, I checked). As much as I don't think that I should have to bitch on a public forum to get results it seems to have worked. Cheers to Epic for fixing my problem!

For the love of all that's good, fight smarter, not harder

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 12:00 AM PST

So I decided to give the game another shot after walking away during the winter event. After completing the events, decided to farm some tickets in Stonewood and left my game open to help out some lower level people. I'm PL 50, holding progression for when the questlines are completed for Canny and Twine, just for some background on me.

In my missions in Stone, I've been mostly running constructor, with other classes thrown in when there's at least one constructor. I build a simple pyramid, throw some kill tunnels up if possible, and bump up the difficulty to max because my traps and BASE can handle the increased 'difficulty', with some gunplay thrown in. If there's a pit/basement, I take out the staircase and throw some push traps next to it to let it do it's thing. All things that everyone should be doing.

Mission continues, and the other, lower level people eventually wander to the defense point, and decide that T 3 stone isn't enough with a BASE powering it, and that the kill tunnels are too open. They surround the base with T 1 wood 2 floors up, put up full walls in the kill tunnels, if there's a field in between the spawn point and the base put out a grid of T 1 wood knee high walls, and go to the spawn zone and fire their guns while in melee. While this is all going on, they decide that the resources that the BASE has been slowly gathering up while I was waiting for them to get done with their gathering was theirs also, just to add insult to injury.

If you're a newish player reading this, I'm not trying to rag on you. We were all there, and I'm pretty sure we all did the field of knee high walls at least once in our Fortnite career . Our biggest advantages as players is our range damage, our ability to build, and our mobility. Even Constructors, with their added. . . . mass, are more mobile than husks and mist monsters. A field of knee high walls needs us to jump over them which reduces our mobility, walls everywhere (and sometimes ceilings on our kill tunnels) blocks firing arcs, and with you running into the spawn, you're giving up the advantage that ranged weapons give you.

One of the reasons why the pyramid (or reverse pyramid) is so popular is that smashers love to break walls. anything that will stop them in their progress to the objective they will tear down quickly. Stairs/roof tiles don't actually stop them, so they don't beeline towards them. They also don't stop players from moving on/around it if you have an enclosed pyramid, so you're not giving up mobility for protection which is what you would have doing a box instead.

Husks and Mist Monsters will take the fastest way to the objective, figuring in everything that they have to smash to get there. Throwing up walls completely between the objective and their spawn will just have them smashing through the closest wall, or even just going around because it would be faster. The meat of StW is controlling the flow of the enemies, and the kinks that said enemies throw back at you like Mist Monsters, propane husks and elemental enemies. Make your life (and your team mates lives) easier by embracing this part of the game.

Did devs respond to why melee is bad?

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:42 PM PST

I don't need to hear about the most specific build for lucky rolled crit swords weapons and just the right heroes doing as much dps as uah with a bad gun

My cleaver (highest dps melee) with dmg/dmg/dmg/dmg/water with afflic on my DS ninja with 35% sword dmg bonus does HALF the dps of a free event grave digger or hydra or even my mediocre rolled guns being used by my ninja with zero gun bonuses.

Not only is it half dps, my guns have headshot damage too AND theres no annoyance of bee's (whose AoE lasts way too long for such a common enemy) or getting focused by blasters or getting touched by a nature enemy and losing your stamina.

This is in twine.

There is no way that this is balanced. A mediocre melee should be as useful as a mediocre gun, not a god tier rolled melee being 2x worse and less survivability than a mediocre gun.

QOL improvement for frags

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 06:29 AM PST

So most of the time unless farming people are going to be on hoverboards, due to this no one is going to be activating the frags so they appear on the mini map. Meaning more time spent by outlanders looking for them or we don't use them at all.

Can we get an improvement in which they appear on the map if people go past them within a certain radius?

Second improvement is allow us to choose what frag it is, nothing worse than doing an encampment mission and getting 3 loot llamas instead of teddy ores.

Mats should also work for their lesser counterpart.

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:42 PM PST

So as the title says. You should be able to use higher end versions of materials on less evolved schematics. You shouldn't have to go back to areas your done with just to farm a specific material. It disrupts the natural progression of being able to get them naturally as you play through a area.

If you want the devs to buff melee, then at least acknowledge why Epic thinks melee is in an okay state.

Posted: 04 Mar 2018 03:09 AM PST

Every Reddit post I've seen since launch has ignored 2 important counter agruments to buffing melee. If we want to get through to the devs, my theory is to at least weigh out some pros and cons in a serious discussion.

Reasons to buff melee:

1) Opens up more combat/gameplay variety.

2) Gives our melee schematics and heroes more value and reason to level up and grind for.

3) Highly agreed among the community that melee is underpowered comparatively to guns.

Reasons to abstain melee buffs:

1) Melee consumes no ammo.

Each Grave Digger, maybe the most popular gun, consumes ~ 240 bolts, 480 steel, and 1200 wood in ammo materials by the time it runs out of durability (based on a personal test).

2) Melee combat is too simple and perhaps boring to play; having heroes be too strong in melee could make the game unfun.

My personal proposal

is to make melee schematics cost nuts 'n' bolts for maybe a flat 40% damage buff. Also, increase the amount of bolts with each evolution so noobs aren't paying, for example, 99 bolts to build a melee weapon.

What does the Community consider proper etiquette for gathering/farming mats?

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:56 PM PST

I see a lot of talk about AFK'ers(hate them) or other wise absent team mates. As crap as it is Im sure we are all guilty of leaving the mission objective to the last minute to gather that extra nut & bolt or mineral powder, etc. So at what point does doing the necessary grind for mats become uncouth or a no no in the community's eyes?

Deadeye Ranger: A Brief Guide

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:51 AM PST

Powerful, efficient, well-rounded, handsome... we are, of course, talking about Ranger Deadeye.

In addition to all of those things, he's also my favorite hero. Lots of folks argue about who has the highest DPS, who's viable end-game, yadda yadda... This guide isn't meant to claim Deadeye is the best hero - though the argument certainly could be made that he is - but rather to explain how best to use him. Let's get to it.

Perks/Abilities: He's the most pistol-centered character in the game, with buffs to pistol dmg (+24%), crit chance (+20%), and crit dmg (+70%). More on how to take advantage of that shortly. As an outlander, he also has loot llama and anti-material charge - nice perks, but not game-changing. The ability that really makes him special is his Phase Shift, which instantly teleports him a tile-and-a-half forwards. He gets 3 charges (15 sec cooldown, but you can use them while recharging), and each use forces your shield to regenerate + removes all status-effects (Affliction/Fatigue/Vulnerability/Slow). This helps you stay alive as you shift in and out of combat quickly, which you'll have to do given you'll be working primarily with pistols.

Squad bonuses: The support slot HAS to be either a second Ranger Deadeye (+24% pistol dmg) or Trailblaster Buzz/AC (+70% pistol crit dmg). I use Trailblaster because I've managed to assemble a few crit-chance-rolled pistols, but you can use Deadeye if your pistols have more dmg rolls than crit-chance rolls. For the tactical slot, there's unfortunately not many great options. Warlord/Sergeant Jonesy gives you a concussive blast at the end of your Phase Shift, but its knockback is really underwhelming. The new Thunderstrike Scorch (Spring event ninja) gives you a similar blast when your shield breaks, but - again - it's not particularly powerful. I personally use my Shuriken Master Sarah because she makes the anti-material charge slow enemies down by 30% for 7 seconds. You'll often find yourself face-to-face with Smashers playing Deadeye, so having the ability to slow them down is nice.

Weapons: Pistols, obviously. All are useable, so don't feel like you NEED one specific kind - the ROLLS are what really matters. As said before, you can use pistols with high +dmg rolls if you have another Deadeye to put in to the support slot. However, Deadeye's abilities are maximized with +crit chance rolls - especially when combo'ed with +crit dmg ones. With Trailblaster in support, Deadeye already has +140 crit dmg and +20% crit chance. Most pistols have a baseline of 5-10% crit chance and 50-75% crit dmg, so that puts you between 25-30% crit chance and 190-230% crit dmg right off the bat. Add in some crit-chance/dmg rolls and things get ridiculous:

https://imgur.com/a/uXja9

My current loadout is a Judge with 44% crit chance and 245% crit dmg, a Falcon with 58% crit chance and 245% crit dmg, and a Freedom's Herald with 74% crit chance and 295% crit dmg. This gives the majority of my shots close to 3.5-4x damage. Insane.

Your Role: What pistols you get will generally determine your playstyle. With my loadout, I am primarily a Mist-Monster-Murderer. Emptying one handcannon and switching to the other before reloading gives me 14 shots in a row dealing HUGE single-target damage. By then I'm usually surrounded by a mob, so I switch to the Herald, fire a round or two at my feet, and phase shift to safety. Reload, rinse, repeat. If you get a well-rolled Monsoon, Viper, Zap-Zapp, or Dragon's Breath, however, you might be better suited for mob clearance. Phase-Shift into the middle of it, melt everything in sight, then Shift to safety. He's fun regardless of the style, so adapt to your weapons accordingly.

As far as non-combat playstyle, remember: you're an Outlander. Supply your team with resources. Hoverboards help everyone get around faster nowadays, but your phaseshift and anti-material punch really make gathering resources much faster. Plus your pickaxe does more dmg than non-Outlanders' do. Being useful in both the preparation and combat stages will earn your teammates' respect, and farming+building will earn you better chests. Win-win!

Well, that turned out to be not-so-brief... But I hope you found it useful! There have been other guides to Deadeye, but I found them a bit confusing and figured I'd add my perspective. Thanks for reading! Questions/comments/critiques are welcome, and feel free to add me on XBL - HoorayGreenBay. Now go forth and pistol!
